Hi guys,

I placed a five minute expiry trade on my demo account with a popular broker this morning, only to find that it was OTM whilst still the MT4 feed was showing ITM.  I'd placed the trade with the BO plugin offered by the broker precisely as the candle opened - and this prompted to investigate to see what the problem was.  I've currently got three installations of MT4 on my machine, and upon checking the charts - they're all different!  I've attached screengrabs of two of them below so you can see what I'm talking about.

The scale is set to the same values in the each case (although the screengrabs are different sizes due to the window layout of the installations.)  The most perceptible change is at around 11:24 GMT (13:24 on one of the grabs), where the candles are even different colours!

Does anyone know what's going on here??  I find it deeply disconcerting that my trades finishes OTM "earlier" than the candle on which it's due to finish!

Cheers,

GG

You can see that I was targeting my entry following the break of the DS2 support line.  Had I been going by the feed in the second picture, I wouldn't have entered the trade at all.

Thanks very much tootall!  I'm wondering though: how can we reliably time our entries if the set ups look different on different brokers?

Cheers,

GG

Also, I don't understand how the candles can be so different?  Surely they're true market data, so there can only be one "correct" chart?  Please correct me if I'm wrong :)

Are the live accounts accurate though? :/

Here's another example below.  The market times are between the two brokers are identical, yet some of the candles are different colours.

I feel pretty uneasy.. :/

Sorry, it's hard to make out the market watch times.  They're both 15:20:23 (GMT +2).
